Dimore Norcia overlooks one of the many small squares, embellished by an ancient bronze fountain and is just a few meters from the “Tempietto”, a small building, a sort of monumental aedicule, of which we know the date of execution and the artist who worked (1354 Vanni della Tuccia), but we don’t know for sure why it was built. Among the hypotheses: an ancient church dedicated to San Feliciano (evangelizer of Norcia) or an “ex voto” against the plague. What is striking is the typology of the sculptural decoration, very rich, with various kinds of figurations.
The door through which you enter the apartment is Porta Valledonna (or San Giovanni), one of the 7 access gates in the walls that surround the city of Norcia. According to the common belief in this district the most beautiful women of Norcia were born. For this reason, his coat of arms depicts a woman’s face on a lilac background, a color that, in the imagination, recalled the cyclamen fields in the overlooking valley.
